A. Return Policy


NORMAL RETURN POLICY: All products purchased from Tradewindsvt.com, may be returned within 30 days of our shipping date if you are not satisfied, regardless of how they are purchased. PLEASE NOTE: The return policy for Tradewinds products purchased from our in-store stock is STORE CREDIT ONLY. There are no exchanges allowed for gauged jewelry, nose jewelry or custom orders.
HOLIDAY SEASON EXTENDED RETURN POLICY: After Nov 1st, we suspend our return policy so that you can shop early. After Nov 1st, we will accept returns until Jan 15th of the following year. (or after thirty days, whichever is greater)

FOR ALL ON-LINE PRODUCTS: We can issue a refund to the credit card of the original buyer only. If you received the item as a gift, and you wish to exchange it, we can issue you a Tradewinds gift certificate to be used at our on-line store, in the amount of your exchange. (We promise that, if you exchange your gift, the original purchaser of your gift need never be notified that you exchanged it!) PLEASE NOTE: if, and only if, your dissatisfaction is due to our error, your original shipping charges will be credited back to you and we will pay return shipping.

The item must be returned in its original condition and original packaging for a full refund or exchange. If we conclude that the item has been modified by the customer, we will not be responsible for issuing a credit and the customer must pay shipping costs to have the merchandise returned to him or her. For exchanges, we will issue a gift certificate for the amount of the initial purchase. The customer can use their gift certificate towards the purchase of any other item available at our online store. Tradewinds on-line gift certificates are valid for one year's time. All clearance items are not returnable. Items purchased in our physical store are not returnable through the website.

B. Return Instructions

  1. for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Form and we will respond promptly by email. Please include your invoice number.
  2. After receiving the RMA, seal the returned item in all the original packaging, and include the invoice. Write the RMA number on the OUTSIDE of the box in legible dark ink or marker. We will not accept packages without this code, or shipments that have been improperly packaged.
    For items that were damaged in transit, please place the item back in the original shipping materials, and then put it in another box that meets shipping requirements of your carrier. Include receipts for any expenses you incur. We will compensate you for any reasonable expenses when we get the returned goods.

  4. Shipping is at your expense; you must ship with a carrier that provides a return receipt or tracking number for confirmation that we have received the package. We strongly advise you to insure it for the full value of the item. Tradewinds is not responsible for returned goods that have been lost or damaged in transit. Tradewinds will also refuse packages that arrive past the return date.
  5. Within 10 days of receipt of the merchandise, we will issue a credit to the credit card of the original buyer only (or an on-line gift certificate to use for exchanging gifts). We will promptly email confirmation. However, if we conclude that the item has been damaged or modified by the customer, we will not be responsible for issuing a credit, and the customer must pay shipping costs to have the merchandise returned to him or her.

C. Shipping Policies

Address errors:

Please be sure that you fill out your address carefully. Tradewinds is not responsible for address errors. Items shipped by carriers other than the U.S. Post Office cannot be shipped To P.O. Boxes.

Refused, unclaimed or returned shipments

A restocking fee of 10% will be charged for any orders returned to us marked "refused" or "unclaimed". We will also charge the customer for any return shipping costs on unclaimed or refused orders.

Foreign shipping

The customer is responsible for all duties, customs charges, and government restrictions on any Tradewinds products shipped to their country. Tradewinds doe not accept returns on products shipped outside the United States, due to duty charges.

D. Other Store Policies

Separation of on-line and physical store

Please note that the physical location of Tradewinds Imports, in Burlington VT, and the on-line store of tradewindsvt.com are separate entities.

  • Merchandise available at one may not be available from the other
  • Prices for the same stock may not be identical at all times
  • Gift certificates and credits from the website may not be used in the physical store.
  • Gift certificates and store credits from the physical store may not be used on the website.
  • An item bought through the website cannot be returned or exchange at our physical store. Items must be returned through the mail, using our website return form.


Prices at Tradewinds fluctuate. Prices of the goods may vary dramatically from one overseas stock purchase to the next. This is due to many factors. The cost of materials (especially silver and gold) have been extremely volatile lately. Brass has nearly doubled in price lately. Stones also vary in price according to supply and demand. Pricing discrepancies are inevitable because of direct importing.

E. Privacy & Security


We hate unsolicited spam and personal intrusions as much as you do. We will never divulge your personal information to any third party.

Tradewinds does use an e-mail management system to keep in touch with our customers. Newsletters and promotions will be sent sparingly. We do not intend to bombard you. If you do not wish to receive e-mails from us, each e-mail has an opt- out button so that your name will be removed from our mailing list. This list will never be sold or traded with any other company.

One note about links to our website. Be aware that Tradewinds is not responsible for the business and privacy practices of these sites.


Tradewinds is a secure site with full data encryption, so there is no need to worry about security. We are utilizing Authorize.net for all credit card processing. No Tradewinds employees will have access to your credit card information. The data itself is broken up an sent to us in secure code.
