Mother Kali

MOTHER KALI

Here is you chance to wear a genuine piece of old India. This rare Hindu amulet is almost undoubtedly a true antique - it takes many many years to produce this much wear on a partial silver piece like this. It comes from a village in the desert state of Rajasthan.

This amulet is called a Patrie, and it represents the goddess Kali. Kali has a long and exciting history. Hindus see her as an often violent and dark figure whose job it is to keep the world's energy in balance through taking as well as giving life. Therefore she is also viewed as a benevolent mother figure and a defender of women. Both aspects show a strong powerful woman and the wearer of this antique Indian Patrie pendant is sure to have Kali's female power on their side. Kali holds the attributes of Shiva, marking her as the female version of the god of destruction and regeneration. The dog at her feet is a village mutt - her mascot animal. PLEASE NOTE: Because this is a piece of antique jewelry, we have no idea of the precise metal content of this pendant. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE WITH METAL SENSITIVITY, UNLESS THEY INTEND TO WEAR IT OVER CLOTHING. Most patries were made of about 80% silver, but there is no guarantee that this one is or is not. Remember, they were all made in individual villages. CHAIN SOLD SEPARATELY.
