Lord Of The Dance

Lord Of The Dance

LORD OF THE DANCE

When Shiva is depicted dancing, he is known as Narteswara or "Nat Raj", loosly translated as "King of the Dance". He is dancing in the ring of fire, which symbolizes cosmic energy. He has 4 arms and he is dancing on the back of the demon Mara, the Demon of Illusion. Two of Shiva's arms hold the sacred fire and the demaru drum while balancing good and evil. His leg is stepping forward, which shows the energy he is using to regenerate the universe. As patron of music and dance, Shiva is doing the dance of the cosmos. Let him inspire you to "forget your troubles and dance!" Handmade of brass, in India.
